How To Take Plant Hollow Capsules?

The method of taking plant hollow capsules is as follows:

Before taking, prepare to check the status of the capsules: ensure that the capsules are not damaged, damp, and within their expiration date. Damaged or damp capsules may affect drug stability and even cause the contents to deteriorate.

Read the instructions: Carefully read the drug or health product instructions to understand the usage, dosage, contraindications, and special precautions (such as whether to take on an empty stomach).

Prepare warm water: Take a cup of water with a moderate temperature (about 100-200 milliliters). The water temperature should not be too hot (exceeding 40 ℃ may cause the capsule shell to soften, adhere to the esophagus, accelerate drug release, and affect efficacy), nor should it be too cold (to avoid stimulating the gastrointestinal tract).

The correct steps for taking the medication are to stand or sit: keep the body upright for easy swallowing and reduce the risk of capsule retention in the esophagus.

Moisturizing the throat: First, take a small sip of water to moisten the throat and esophagus, preparing for swallowing the capsule.

Placing capsules: Place the capsules on the tongue to avoid sticking to the upper or lower walls of the mouth. If the capsule sticks to the mouth, it can be gently swallowed to help it slide down.

Swallowing: Take another sip of water and swallow the capsule and water together. When swallowing, keep the head in a natural state and avoid excessively lowering or tilting the head (tilting the head may cause the capsule to float on the water surface, swallowing water first and then sticking the capsule to the esophageal mucosa).

After drinking the remaining water: make sure the capsule is flushed into the stomach to avoid residue in the esophagus.

Handling swallowing difficulties in special situations: Swallowing training (such as oral and throat exercises) should be conducted under the guidance of a physician or pharmacist.

If the contents of the capsule can be chewed (such as certain health products), it can be taken after removal, but the nature of the medication and the instructions must be confirmed.

Enteric coated capsules (to reach intestinal dissolution) should not be opened and taken, otherwise it may damage the drug or irritate the gastric mucosa due to stomach acid.

External use: Some hollow plant capsules can be cut open and the powder can be directly applied to the damaged skin area (such as wounds or inflamed areas), but it must be strictly used according to medical advice.

Precautions: Avoid dry swallowing: Dry swallowing can easily cause coughing, and the capsule may stay in the esophagus, damaging the mucosa.

Avoid hot water delivery: Hot water may soften the capsule shell, adhere to the esophagus, accelerate drug release, and affect drug efficacy.

Storage conditions: Store in a cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and high temperatures (high temperatures may cause deformation of the capsule or deterioration of the contents).

It is not recommended to store in the refrigerator (low temperature may cause the capsules to dry and become brittle, affecting their effectiveness).

Dietary taboos: Avoid spicy and greasy foods during use to avoid affecting drug absorption.

Regular check ups: Long term users need to go to the hospital for regular check ups so that doctors can adjust the dosage of medication according to their condition.
